| Endocardial Solutions Announces Preliminary Fourth Quarter and 1999 Earnings Results January 25, 2000 <*dv_4*>MINNEAPOLIS / ST.PAUL -- Endocardial Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: ECSI) today announced that, based on preliminary estimates, fourth quarter 1999 revenue results will be lower than analysts' estimates. The company expects to report revenue of approximately $3.1 million for the fourth quarter and $9.6 million for the year ended December 31, 1999. Fourth quarter loss per share is anticipated to be approximately $.24 to $.26 and the 1999 loss is expected to be $1.22 to $1.24 per share. Gross margin percentages and operating expenses for the fourth quarter should be in line with original estimates, despite the lower-than-expected fourth-quarter revenue. "The selling process for U.S. hospitals has taken longer than originally expected," said Jim Bullock, president and CEO. "Because of this, we fell short of our revenue expectations in the fourth quarter and anticipate that this longer than expected selling cycle will also affect our fiscal 2000 revenue. However, because of the number of sales in process we remain very positive about long-term revenue expectations." "During 1999 we made great progress in establishing the EnSite 3000® System as a new standard of care for diagnosis of patients with cardiac arrhythmias," said Bullock. "Customer interest remains very strong. Especially encouraging are the daily reports of clinical success that could not be achieved without the use of our technology." <*dv_0*>Endocardial Solutions expects to announce fourth quarter and year-end earnings on February 23, 1999 after the close of trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration cleared the EnSite 3000® System for use in diagnostic mapping of complex arrhythmias in the right atrium of the heart during the second quarter 1999. Through a distribution agreement with Medtronic, Inc., the EnSite 3000® System and catheter have been available to electrophysiologists in Europe since the second quarter 1998. Based in St. Paul, Minnesota, Endocardial Solutions<*dv_3*> develops, manufactures and markets technology for diagnostic mapping of complex arrhythmias (abnormally rapid heartbeats caused by irregular electrical activity in the heart). The EnSite 3000® System provides a 3D graphical display of the heart's electrical activity.
